Bees in the church

We have had a lovely weekend, although I have to admit we are now all totally exhausted and Carl is, “Resting his eyes” on the settee.  We had our barbeque while watching the alpacas and were fascinated by their silhouettes against the skyline when they all stood at the top of the hill.  The sky was amazing.  I shall start waxing lyrical at this point but it really was incredible.  If you looked up towards the top of the hill it felt like you were underwater with the bottoms of islands floating above you, all reds and pinks with wispy grey clouds floating under them.  Then it all turned lilac, I wish I could describe it properly - or paint it.  Then Prudence started a lot of rolling and kicking around and I got a little worried about her as she is normally asleep by 9pm so we decided to make a night of it and sleep in the caravan to keep an eye on things.  It was very comfortable and good fun but nothing came of Prudence and her restlessness.  We were up and about by 6am watching the alpacas waking up.  Sam and I went to church but couldn’t sit where we normally do due to a swarm of bees which had arrived and buzzed around throughout the service!  It was very short, not due to the bees, but due to there being no communion.  Sam looked at the new service sheet and whispered to me, in a rather unchristian way, “This shouldn’t take long Mum.”  I shooshed him loudly and hoped the churchwarden sitting behind hadn’t heard.  Back at home it was waste management all day and I found what I take to be a cervical plug on the dung heap.  I got very excited and sat down with the Mike Safley alpaca book only to read that this is not a reliable indicator of imminent birth!  Pru was very restless all day though and as she is 1 year on Friday it cannot be long now. Carl spent most of the afternoon trundling around on the Westwood garden mover trying to make the track and one of the paddocks look presentable as we have Wellground coming tomorrow with the stud for Flamenco and we don’t want to embarrass ourselves with nettles appearing all over the catch pen!  Sam spent most of the day reorganising the caravan; putting cups in it, trying out the toilet, bringing in a few toys, balancing a pictorial tray on the shelf,  as he thinks it is the best thing we have ever bought!  He then topped roadside and tried to negotiate with his father swopping quads!

Photos not uploading properly so will try tomorrow (with a warning for those of a delicate disposition!)
