A village Event

A lovely day today, but very busy.  It was the centenary of our church which is a very old village church on the side of the hill - rebuilt 100 years ago.

Ibberton Church

I hasten to add that the picture above was taken earlier this year and not today!!  We helped set up the village hall this morning and then this afternoon it was a packed service followed by tea, sandwiches and cake in the village hall.  Getting to the church is up a steep track and Carl was kept busy taking some relations up and down the track in our car (quite a miracle it made it really!).  The church was really beautiful with wild flowers everywhere - even on the gate.  I wish I had taken photos.    I was not brought up in the village but we visited often when I was a child as my Mum was born here and we have relations in the village.  If my Grandad, Uncle and Aunts were still alive now I think they would find a lot remains the same and that gives me a great sense of belonging (even though I am a newcomer really!).

Any way - back to alpacas - I have not got a look in with my birthday present as Sam  has spent every available second waste managing - he loves it!  In fact he has cleared so much I caught him driving behind the girls and sucking up their poo almost before it hit the ground!  The cria are all doing well but little Frank has a bit of a runny red eye.  Hopefully it is the wind.  Bert appeared almost ready to give birth last night but there is no sign today (no sigh of any milk either!), she is very irritable and tired though and has that far away look in her eyes - Prudence got that way a couple of days before she gave birth.
